Trendy Ideas for Painting Brick Walls
If you love the rough style of brick, just not its color, consider painting it. Your walls can have a whole new feeling with the right brick wall paint.
1) Clean the Wall First
You'll want to clean the bricks well first. Use a stiff brush to remove the dirt from the surface and wipe the walls down with a soapy cloth. Let that wall dry completely for no less than 12 hours.
2) Fill Cracks if Needed
Check for cracks within the bricks themselves or even the gaps in between. Use filler where needed, and allow that to dry as well.
3) Apply Primer
Use a primer designed for bricks. You can use a roller for larger areas and a brush for the gaps in the bricks. Allow the primer to dry completely.
4) Start Painting!
Once the primer is dry, It's time to start applying your brick paint. You will want to use a water-based interior paint. For larger areas you can use the roller, for edges and corners you can use the brush for that clean application.
5) Do 2 or More Coats
Bricks soak up more paint, so you will definitely be doing 2 coats at a minimum. Be sure to allow each coat to fully dry before moving onto the next. This will allow you to have an even application with your brick wall paint.
With just a bit of effort, you can turn an old brick wall into a modern, stylish part of your room!
